Richard Jefferson had nostalgic reunion with Cavs teammates after Game 4

Richard Jefferson was on hand for Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday in New York as an ESPN analyst. While there, he also had the chance to reunite with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammates.

He took to social media to celebrate the occasion. Featured in the picture were Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, and Kevin Love.

“Final reunion,” he posted.

In 2016, Jefferson was part of the Cavs team that went on to win the NBA title. At that time, LeBron James had made his official return to the Cavs after four years with the Miami Heat. That year, the Cavs prevailed through a dramatic seven-game series with the Golden State Warriors, who won a record 73 games.

They trailed 3-1 in the series and then won the next three games. It was Game 7 in Golden State that still lives on as one of the greatest games in NBA history. Cleveland, led by LeBron’s iconic block of Andre Iguodala and Kyrie Irving’s 3-pointer, pulled it off 93-89.

In the process, the Cavs won their first NBA championship in franchise history, and LeBron completed his comeback to his hometown. Jefferson finished the Finals averaging 5.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and shot 51.3% from the field. He came in off the bench primarily, but started for two games in place of an injured Love.

Jefferson played 17 years in the NBA (2001-2018), primarily with the New Jersey Nets from 2001 to 2008. He played for the Cavs from 2015 to 2017.

After retiring in 2018 following one season with the Denver Nuggets, Jefferson parlayed a career in broadcasting with ESPN/ABC.
