The Madison Square Garden Miracle has left the New York Knicks just one game shy of their first NBA title since 1973. The Knicks appeared to be buried as they fell behind by 29 points early in the third quarter, but the Knicks refused to accept that fate. They managed a comeback from the ages as they cut the deficit to 15 points after three quarters and finished the job with a 107-106 victory.

The fans at Madison Square Garden — both celebrity and non-celebrity supporters — were delirious that the Knicks erased San Antonio’s huge lead and gained a 3-1 advantage in the series. It appeared that the road-court advantage that had been established in the first three games of the series would continue in Game 4, but Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby led the Knicks’ monstrous comeback and broke the hearts of Victor Wembanyama, Dylan Harper and the rest of the Spurs.
Wembanyama was asked about his team’s collapse, and he said it started long before the fourth quarter. He said his team was “not as hungry” in the second half.
Celebrity fan Ben Stiller is regularly seated courtside for nearly every Knicks home game. He credited the Wu-Tang Clan’s halftime performance as being the start of the comeback. Stiller posted a photo of Wu-Tang’s performance on his X account, and more than 23,000 fans supported that contention.
While the energy at halftime was notable, it was the performance of Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby and Jose Alvarado that delivered the comeback. Anunoby’s putback of Brunson’s late miss provided the winning points and touched off a wild celebration at the Garden and throughout New York City.
