On Wednesday’s edition of ESPN First Take, Stephen A. Smith went scorched earth on the fan who threw eggs at Victor Wembanyama following Game 4 of the NBA Finals. According to a report by Shams Charania, a fan threw multiple eggs at Wembanyama outside the hotel where the Spurs were staying, which was only a few minutes from Madison Square Garden.
"This is disgusting… the fools who did it, not only do I wish they knew who it was and they get arrested, I wish they get their a*s kicked. … These athletes don't deserve that."

“I can confirm that multiple eggs were thrown in the direction of Victor Wembanyama late last night outside the Spurs Hotel. As of right now, the New York Police Department has not made any arrests, though, and the Spurs are on their way back to San Antonio today for game five,” Charania said on ESPN’s NBA Today on Wednesday afternoon.
Smith took the fan who threw the eggs to task Wednesday morning.
“This is disgusting,” Smith said after watching a video of the incident. “And let me tell you something. The fools who did it, not only do I wish they knew who it was and they get arrested, I wish they get their a** kicked. ‘Cause see, it’s real brave to do something like that when you’re surrounded by a whole bunch of people and nobody knows who you are… These athletes don’t deserve this”
The reports surfaced amid multiple allegations that Victor Wembanyama and other Spurs supporters were subjected to harassment by Knicks fans following recent games in New York. Several videos circulated on social media appearing to show confrontations between fans, with some encounters reportedly turning physical. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Wembanyama condemned the behavior and called for an end to the violence.
“My thoughts of course [are] that we can’t forget it’s a game,” Wembanyama said. “We’re just playing a game out there. I am all for passion, but [with] the respect of each other. It’s unacceptable.”
