The New York Mets right-hander Kodai Senga made his fourth rehab start of his current minor-league assignment on Thursday, working through six innings for Double-A Binghamton against the Somerset Patriots at TD Bank Ballpark in New Jersey.
Senga’s outing came after he was originally scheduled to pitch on Tuesday but was scratched due to a flare-up of ulnar nerve irritation. He still took the mound Thursday despite his ongoing recovery from lumbar spine inflammation and arm-related issues.
Across six innings, Senga allowed one run on one hit, a solo home run, while issuing one walk and hitting one batter. He struck out five hitters, with several coming on swings and misses generated by his ghost forkball. He threw 75 pitches in total, landing 51 for strikes, and showed no visible discomfort during the outing.

This was Senga’s fourth rehab appearance, following earlier starts with Single-A St. Lucie on May 22 (vs. Palm Beach), Triple-A Syracuse on May 28 (at Rochester), and June 3 (vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre). Thursday’s performance was his strongest outing of the assignment.
Before his injury, Senga made five starts for New York in the 2026 season, going 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA and a 23-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 20.0 innings.
Over his MLB career with the Mets, Senga has logged 57 starts and owns a 20-17 record with a 3.39 ERA and 343 strikeouts over 305.0 innings. He signed a five-year, $75 million contract with New York on December 17, 2022, after 11 seasons in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks.
Senga was also an NL All-Star in 2023 and led MLB rookies that season with 12 wins and 202 strikeouts, making his recovery progress all the more meaningful as the Mets evaluate his next step in recovery.
