Kings sign forward to one-year extension

The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to a one-year, two-way contract extension with forward Martin Chromiak. The deal carries an NHL salary of $850,000 and runs through the 2026-27 season.

Chromiak, 23, is coming off the best season of his professional career with the AHL’s Ontario Reign. In 2025-26, he appeared in 71 games and set career highs across the board with 28 goals, 28 assists and 56 points. He led all Reign skaters in goals, assists and points while also topping the team with 12 power-play goals and seven game-winning goals. Those totals ranked among the AHL leaders, with his game-winning goal and power-play goal numbers tied for third and fourth in the league, respectively. He also added one goal in five Calder Cup Playoff games.

Since turning professional in 2022, Chromiak has steadily increased his offensive production. After recording 28 points (15 goals, 13 assists) in 2022-23, he followed with 32 points in 2023-24 and 39 points in 2024-25 before breaking out with his 56-point campaign this past season. Across 267 AHL games over parts of five seasons, he has accumulated 76 goals and 79 assists for 155 points, along with 26 power-play goals, 14 game-winning goals and 72 penalty minutes. He has also contributed three points (two goals, one assist) in 10 career Calder Cup Playoff appearances.

Originally selected by Los Angeles in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, Chromiak developed in both Slovakia and Canada before reaching the professional ranks. He played 88 Ontario Hockey League games with the Kingston Frontenacs over two seasons, producing 55 goals and 119 points. His standout 2021-22 season included 44 goals and 86 points in 60 games, with the 44-goal total leading the team and helping him finish among the OHL’s top scorers.

Before returning to North America full-time, Chromiak spent parts of three seasons with HC Dukla Trencín in Slovakia’s premier professional league, tallying 12 goals and 26 points in 66 games.

Internationally, the Ilava, Slovakia native has represented his country in five IIHF tournaments, including three Men’s World Championships. Most recently, he collected six points (four goals, two assists) in seven games at the 2026 IIHF World Championship, continuing the upward trajectory that earned him his latest contract extension with the Kings.
