Dwayne Johnson reveals ‘really painful’ testicular cancer health scare

Even the great Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson isn’t immune to health problems, as the WWE’s “Final Boss” recently had a testicular cancer scare.

Speaking to Esquire, he talked about his recent health scare. He felt a “lump” on his left testicle, and naturally, he felt a “lonely terror.” This came amid press for the upcoming Jumanji sequel.

He hid his feelings from his wife, not wanting to “worry her.” So, he went at it alone, but he now reassured the interviewer that he was “fine,” explaining, “But I didn’t know that then, and the thing was really painful!”

When he called the doctor, The Rock was told it was “probably epididymitis.” While the doctor said there was a chance it was cancer, epididymitis, essentially inflammation, would be a better outcome. The doctor advised him to get an ultrasound the following day after the Jumanji press event. He put on a brave face and did it.

“So I had to live with that for those twenty-four hours, not knowing—and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches,” he recalled.

Luckily, Johnson appears to be fine. He once again reassured the interviewer that he was “okay” before they moved on to a new subject.

The Rock will have a busy year. He produced and starred in Disney’s live-action remake of Moana, which will come out on July 10, 2026. He previously voiced Maui in the two animated movies.

Later in the year, he will return for a third Jumanji movie titled Open World. The last two installments, which also featured The Rock, have grossed over $1.7 billion at the box office.

It has been a while since Johnson last appeared in WWE. He gained notoriety for being The Rock. In 2025, he played an integral role in John Cena’s infamous heel turn.
