WWE Superstar Ludwig Kaiser, aka Marcel Barthel, was recently arrested in Florida. Kaiser, also known as El Grande Americano, is heavily known for his work across both WWE and the Mexico-based promotion, AAA, where he recently unmasked the OG El Grande Americano. However, before his big match at Noche de Los Grandes, Barthel was arrested on battery charges in Orange County, Florida.
According to several reports, Barthel was arrested in May. 20, 2026, on charges of battery in Orange County, Florida. As per the online records, he was booked in Orange County. Later, PWInsider and court records confirmed that Barthel was bonded out of Orange County Corrections on a $1000 bail by his long-term friend and WWE colleague, Gunther.
Kaiser’s legal team, soon after his arrest, sought permission for him to travel abroad for his impending match, Mask vs. Mask, against El Grande Americano in Mexico. The court did not object to the motion and granted him his request to travel, following which he went to Mexico and won the match.
However, days after the event, a major update on the arrest case has emerged. With Kaiser’s pre-trial scheduled for next month, a new filing has been made in his battery arrest case. According to court documents, attorney Darrin Chambers was registered as a legal representative for the alleged victim on Jun. 11, 2026.
Chambers currently works for NeJame Law in Orlando, Florida, and is a trial attorney mainly focused on civil litigation and personal injury. While not confirmed, this could mean that the alleged victim could potentially be looking forward to financial compensation and a civil lawsuit against Barthel.
