Magic Johnson gives ‘Hand of OG’ play NBA Finals GOAT status

The thrilling putback by OG Anunoby in Game 4 of the NBA Finals will live on as one of the greatest moments in NBA history. It capped off a historic 29-point comeback by the New York Knicks over the San Antonio Spurs, 107-106.

Among those who agreed was Magic Johnson. However, Johnson took it even further, calling it one of the best moments in all of sports, per Get Up on ESPN.

“It’s one of the greatest moments in sports, not just in the NBA Finals,” Johnson said.

Overall, the Knicks bounced back after a big loss in Game 3 that seemed to bring the Spurs back into the series. Now, they are poised to win their first championship since 1973.

Anunoby will forever be a hero.

Undoubtedly, Johnson knows a thing or two about coming through in those big situations. Throughout his career, Johnson led the Los Angeles Lakers to five NBA titles in the 1980s (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988).

In Game 6 of the 1980 Finals, Johnson took over for an injured Kareem Abdul Jabbar at center. He scored 42 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and dished out seven assists. Ultimately, the Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 123-107.

In Game 4 of the 1987 Finals, Johnson hit a baby hook shot in the lane with two seconds left. Kevin McHale and Robert Parish guarded him and sank the shot to give the Lakers the lead. In the end, the Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics 107-106.

On Saturday, Game 5 of the Finals is at 7:30 pm CST/8:30 pm EST at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
