Victor Wembanyama drops truth bomb on abuse from Knicks fans

The San Antonio Spurs are heading back home facing elimination in Game 5 as they’re down 3-1 in the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks. While the Spurs are certainly not feeling bright about their current situation, they will definitely feel better being amongst their home fans. During their time in New York, the Spurs weren’t exactly welcomed by Knicks fans, with Victor Wembanyama nearly being hit by an object while outside the team hotel.

In the midst of the series shifting to Madison Square Garden, that was just one of a series of incidents that did not paint Knicks fans in a good light. However, during his media availability session ahead of Game 5, Wembanyama acknowledged that he didn’t really pay attention to any of the shenanigans from opposing fans, as per SNY Knicks.

“I didn’t really think much of it,” Wembanyama stated. “I just saw that one video of the eggs, I didn’t see any other ones. But it’s okay. I don’t dislike it. Obviously it’s not good at all but it doesn’t bother me.

In the aftermath of the Spurs’ Game 5 loss, the team was arriving back to their hotel when they encountered a large group of Knicks fans who had gathered outside. Upon exiting the team bus and walking into the hotel, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama was nearly hit in the head by an egg that somebody in the group had thrown.

With the Spurs needing a win in Game 5 to keep their season alive, Wembanyama’s response to Knicks fans shows he’s in the right mindset to try and extend the series and bring it back to New York.

Despite the Spurs failing to tie up the NBA Finals after their Game 4 choke job, Wembanyama bounced back after not quite playing up to his standards in the first two games.
