The Texas Longhorns remain one of the top programs in the country, with highly successful recruiting playing a big part. On Friday, head coach Steve Sarkisian was able to land a talented four-star recruit, who had been considering the Georgia Bulldogs or Auburn Tigers.
Reports indicate that four-star edge rusher JaBarrius Garror officially committed to Texas, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals and On3 Sports. The Longhorns managed to sway him away from Georgia, Auburn, and even the Florida State Seminoles.
“BREAKING: Four-Star EDGE JaBarrius Garror has Committed to Texas, he tells me for Rivals,” reported Fawcett. “The 6’3, 225 lbs EDGE chose the Longhorns over Georgia, Auburn, and Florida State.”
Garrer is part of the 2027 class attending Vigor High School in Mobile, Alabama. He is the No. 107-ranked player in the nation on Rivals’ list, and is considered the No. 12 edge rusher in his class. JaBarrius Garrer had 21 total visits before making his decision, with only one of those being an official visit to Texas.
This is the 14th commitment for the Longhorns’ 2027 class. Garrer is the eighth four-star recruit to commit to Texas. Steve Sarkisian is doing well with recruiting for the 2027 class, as the program ranks 10th nationally on On3 Sports’ lists and is currently No. 4 in the SEC.
That makes two key defensive linemen commitments the Longhorns have landed recently. Texas acquired Kasi Currie on Thursday, beating out Georgia once again, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Oregon Ducks for the four-star interior defensive lineman. Sarkisian is seemingly loading up the defensive front for years to come.
