The San Antonio Spurs spent the last day recovering from their 29-point collapse vs. the New York Knicks during Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Mitch Johnson’s squad mustered just 30 second-half points during the shocking defeat. Victor Wembanyama struggled mightily down the stretch against the Knicks’ physical defense.
While Wembanyama admitted that the Spurs gave away Game 4, he said the team has moved on as it prepares for Game 5.
“Of course, there were 1,000 ways that we could have not lost that game. But it feels like there was a time to process that and really dwell on it, but not anymore,” the Spurs star said, via SNY.
Following Game 4, Wembanyama said that “greediness” was a problem for the Spurs during the shocking collapse.

He elaborated on that response on Friday while reflecting on the loss.
“Yeah, absolutely, greediness was [an issue for us]. I guess the general thing would be giving them less opportunities rather than [us] doing something incredible,” he said.
Wembanyama started strong in Game 4, posting 16 points and six rebounds on 6-of-11 shooting through two quarters. The Spurs drained an NBA Finals record 14 threes during the first half. However, they went ice cold from three in the second half, and Wembanyama appeared to run out of gas as his team searched for answers.
Wembanyama shot 3-of-14 in the second half and missed two free throws with the Spurs down one with 1:47 remaining. San Antonio shot 8-of-39 from the field and 3-of-17 from three as a team with six assists and nine turnovers in the second half.
Wembanyama and the Spurs will look to bounce back from the historic defeat and avoid elimination when they return to Frost Bank Center for Game 5 on Saturday.
