Brazil comes into the World Cup with the fifth-best odds overall to win the tournament at +950. They’re sitting at even odds (-110) to reach the quarterfinals, where they’ve lost in four of their last five World Cup appearances, and are the rightful favorites to advance from Group C.
Morocco will be looking to replicate their cinderella run to the semifinals in 2022 for the country’s best-ever finish. They’re listed at +350 to advance to the quarterfinals, but can certainly open this group stage with a stunner to a team like Brazil, gaining confidence and momentum for the rest of the tournament.

Brazil vs. Morocco Key Injuries
Brazil: The main injury news has been centered around star forward Neymar Jr. who’s been out since mid-May with a calf injury. While he’s making positive progress, he still won’t be playing in the opener against Morocco. Defender Wesley was also replaced by Manchester United midfielder Éderson.
Morocco: The squad forced a roster change prior to this opener as star winger Abde Ezzalzouli (knee) and defender Nayef Aguerd (groin) were both ruled out. They are replaced by Angers’ midfielder Amine Sbaï and Al-Fateh’s Marwane Saadane.

Keys to Brazil vs. Morocco Matchup
Both teams come into Group C as the favorites to advance, however it’s undeniable both squads are dealing with an unfortunate slate of injuries. The major replacements on the side of Morocco will create even more obstacles for head coach Mohamed Ouahbi, who just replaced former coach Walid Regragui just this last March. Ouahbi utilizes a 4-2-3-1 formation with captain and their best player on the pitch Achraf Hakimi flanking the right.
If Morocco can break up the passing lanes for Brazil early in the midfield, they should be able to mount some counter attacks with Hakimi pushing down the center through the right flank. Neil El Aynaoui is also a player to watch for Morocco as he;s grown into one of their best players. He’s extremely active in the midfield and will be disrupting Brazil all match with his ball control and ability to lead attacks.
For Brazil, having Neymar available at this point of the tournament would be a huge confidence boost following their last 2-1 win over Egypt. While they came away with a win on their record, they still allowed 49% possession to a much less talented team than themselves while losing a key player when Wesley went down with injury. They’ll have to continue overcoming obstacles each stage of this tournament, but Brazil will look much more like their best selves once Neymar is back out there.
Still, Brazil will have the best player on the field in Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr., who’s widely argued as one of the best players in the world. His focus on this tournament will carry Brazil as far as they want to go and they’ll need consistency out of him as clear leader in their offense. Coach Carlo Ancelotti will have a great deal to prove and all eyes will be on this heavyweight matchup.
Brazil vs. Morocco Prediction and Pick
This match has all the makings of an early classic as both teams will have a ton to prove heading into this 2026 World Cup. Both teams have been rocked by injuries during the last week, but the blows to the side of Morocco could become more significant given the severity. They’re replacing talent with consistency and experience, so it’ll be interesting to see how conservative they are during the opening half.
Brazil, on the other hand, isn’t likely to be conservative at all and should instead look to put Morocco on their back foot immediately. I expect them to do just that as Viní Jr. opens his World Cup strong alongside Raphinha on the other side. They’re far too fast for Morocco to keep up with especially given their depleted depth on defense. Let’s roll with Brazil to win this game 2-0.
Final Brazil-Morocco World Cup Prediction & Pick: Brazil (-150); UNDER 2.5 Goals (-135)
