Game 4 of the NBA Finals was arguably the greatest comeback win for a team in league history, as the New York Knicks somehow came back down 29 points to win 107-106 over the San Antonio Spurs. The contest was so insane that it is now the most viral matchup in Finals history.
Wednesday’s Game 4 contest between the Knicks and Spurs has generated 3 billion views (and counting) across social media platforms, according to NBA Communications. On top of that, the series as a whole is the most viral Finals series ever, reaching 8 billion views, breaking the previous record of 6.2 billion views for the 2025 NBA Finals.
“Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs is now the most-viral NBA game ever on social media, generating 3 billion views and counting,” said NBA Communications.
“Additional engagement highlights for Game 4: The series has now generated 8 billion views and counting across social media, the most ever for the NBA Finals (previous record: 6.2 billion views in 2025),” continued NBA Communications. “NBA-related topics trended No. 1 worldwide on X for eight consecutive hours. Most-viewed game recap ever on the NBA’s YouTube channel.”
It may help that the Knicks, one of the biggest market teams in sports, are participating in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. The 29-point comeback, along with OG Anunoby’s late-game heroics on offense and defense, certainly helps the viral viewership, too.
The Knicks and Spurs will add on to their viral NBA Finals series on Saturday. Game 5 is scheduled to tip off at 8:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
