The New York Knicks are just one win away from the 2026 NBA Championship. The only thing that stands in their way are the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Saturday night.
Coming into this series, there were some serious question marks about center Mitchell Robinson and his availability given the fractured finger he suffered during the Knicks’ week break prior to the start of the NBA Finals.
Robinson suffered a fractured metacarpal in his right hand and has been wearing a wrap over his hand since the start of the NBA Finals. But the Knicks backup center hasn’t missed any time due to the injury. Instead, Robinson has appeared to play solid in his minutes matched up against Victor Wembanyama.
Ahead of Saturday night’s Game 5, Mitchell Robinson was asked about the status of his injured finger as the series shifts to a potential close-out game.
“It’s straight,” Mitchell Robinson told reporters during the Knicks’ media availability. “It’s alright. I’ve got an appointment in the morning. It’s alright. Looks well. I’m not worried about it.”

Through the first four games of the series, Robinson is averaging 4.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 11.8 minutes off the Knicks bench. He’s played sparingly as the Knicks try to keep Karl-Anthony Towns on the floor. The most staggering statistic, however, is that the Knicks are being outscored by 41 in the 47 minutes Robinson has played so far in this series.
Game 5 between the Spurs and Knicks will tip off on Saturday at 8:30PM EST on ABC.
