Bryant is still in absolute awe of playing in the NBA Finals. The San Antonio Spurs selected him 14th overall in the 2025 NBA draft out of Arizona, and his development under head coach Mitch Johnson has accelerated rapidly. While superstar center Victor Wembanyama commands most of the media attention, the rookie’s contributions off the bench have provided vital sparks for the team during this grueling postseason stretch.
On Wednesday night, San Antonio dropped a heartbreaker to New York, losing 107-106 in a down-to-the-wire finish. Despite the narrow defeat, Bryant made every second of his limited court time count. The rookie checked in for five minutes and delivered an incredibly efficient performance. He shot 2-of-3 from the field, including a perfect 1-of-1 from beyond the arc, to finish with five points and one rebound.
More importantly, the young small forward registered a plus-minus rating of plus-6. His presence on the court directly helped the Spurs outscore the Knicks during his brief rotation shifts.
The thrilling series now stands tied, turning the remaining matchups into a high-stakes chess match. The battle shifts back to Texas for Game 5 on Saturday night at the Frost Bank Center. For Bryant, the high-pressure environment is exactly where he wants to be, proving that the big stage is never too bright for the rising rookie.
