Pedro Porro is close to committing his future to Tottenham Hotspur after reaching the final stages of negotiations over a new long-term contract.

The Spain international has become one of Tottenham’s most important players since arriving from Sporting CP and is now set to be rewarded with an improved deal.

Porro’s current contract runs until 2028, but discussions over an extension have progressed positively in recent weeks.

According to reports, the proposed agreement would keep the 26-year-old at the club until 2031 and include the option of a further 12 months.

The new contract would also place Porro among Tottenham’s highest earners, underlining the club’s desire to secure one of their key performers for the long term.

Since initially joining Spurs on loan from Sporting in January 2023, Porro has established himself as a regular starter under several different managers.

The right-back has remained an important figure through spells under Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank, Igor Tudor and current head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

His consistency and attacking quality have made him one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Porro played a significant role in Tottenham’s Europa League triumph in 2025, helping the club end a long wait for European silverware.

He also started the final victory over Manchester United as Spurs secured their first continental trophy since 1984.

The defender is currently with Spain at the World Cup and has featured regularly during Luis de la Fuente’s preparations for the tournament.

His strong form at both club and international level has only strengthened Tottenham’s determination to tie him down to fresh terms.

Porro’s attacking output remains one of his biggest strengths.

The full-back created more chances than any other Tottenham player in the Premier League last season, highlighting his importance in the final third.

His ability to provide width, crosses and creativity from deep positions has made him a vital component of Spurs’ attacking play.

While his defensive performances have occasionally come under scrutiny, there is a belief within the club that he has developed significantly over the past year.

Tottenham have already moved to secure the futures of several key players over the last 12 months, including Djed Spence, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies and Cristian Romero.

Porro now appears set to follow that trend.

The club are continuing to build a squad capable of competing for major honours under De Zerbi, and securing one of their most influential players to a long-term contract would represent another important piece of business.

An official announcement is expected once the final details of the agreement have been completed.
