The Vegas Golden Knights are on the brink of elimination in the Stanley Cup Final. Vegas needs to win Game 6, in order to have any chance to survive to a Game 7. Golden Knights head coach John Tortorella is revealing what his team needs to do in Game 6 on Sunday.
“One of the areas we’ve lost a bit is special teams,” Tortorella said, per NHL.com. “It’s something we need to look at.”
The head coach then went on to elaborate.
“As I said, we’re always trying to be better defensively, we’re always trying to be better in all different areas. So we’ve got a couple of days here, we’ll try to work on that, look at some things and try to be better,” he added.
The Golden Knights trail the Carolina Hurricanes in the series, 3-2. Vegas had control of the Final, after jumping out to a 2-1 series lead. The Golden Knights have dropped back-to-back games, due to a series of defensive breakdowns.
“They’ve been through it all,” Tortorella said about his team. “They know what’s at stake here. We need to win one game here.
“They’ll be ready to play.”
Golden Knights fans certainly hope so. In the last two games, the team has allowed nine total goals. The Golden Knights are working to shore up their defense ahead of Game 6.
Tortorella wasn’t even the team’s head coach at the start of the season. He replaced Bruce Cassidy, who was fired in the midst of the campaign.
