The Chicago Bears are in the beginning stages of their transition to Hammond, Indiana. This was after the organization decided to uproot from Soldier Field and head nearly 30 miles away to a new stadium.
Despite all the uncertainty surrounding the prospect of a new stadium, Bears’ QB Caleb Williams isn’t fazed at all, per Mike Florio of NBC Sports. He is keeping his eye on the ball when it comes to playing.
“I’m going to play wherever there’s 120 by 53 and ⅓ and it’s marked up with white lines and two end zones,” Caleb Williams said Thursday, via Courtney Cronin of ESPN. “I’m OK with whatever. Whatever decision they make is whatever decision they make. I just want some green and my teammates and coaches and another team out there and fans.”
While the Bears’ move has sparked heated debate, Williams is just looking ahead to the next season. He’s coming off a stand-out sophomore season. Williams finished with 3,942 passing yards and 27 touchdowns. He also had a 58.1% completion rate and a 90.1% passer rating.
In the process, the Bears went from finishing 5-12 to winning the NFC North. They pulled off a dramatic 31-27 victory over the rival Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card. Ultimately, Chicago lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round.
Williams is heading into the 2026-27 season with high expectations. Some are expecting him to come away with the NFL MVP Award.
With all that weight on his shoulders, a new stadium is the least of his worries. Whether in Chicago, Hammond, or wherever, he still has to escape the pocket.
