Ali Brunson and Shannon Hart are letting fans in on what they’ve been carrying around postseason that might have contributed to the success of the New York Knicks.
Ali and Shannon are married to Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart and have been supporting their husbands throughout their NBA careers, but this season in particular is special. The Knicks are on the cusp of an NBA Championship as they enter Game 5 against the San Antonio Spurs tonight (June 13), and it could have to do with some rituals and special items that Ali and Shannon have been carrying throughout the season. They exclusively shared with ClutchPoints some items that they plan to take on the road to Game 5 when the Knicks land in San Antonio.
“For me, I’ve just been wearing the same jewelry that’s been the most consistent,” Ali exclusively told ClutchPoints via her partnership with Reese’s Oreo. “My wedding ring, wedding watch, wedding bracelet to bring all the positive energy into the arena.”
“So, for me, I always wear this cross necklace,” Shannon exclusively told ClutchPoints via her partnership with Reese’s Oreo. “I mean, Josh is obviously super religious. I’ve gotten a lot more religious in the last year or so. So, definitely this cross necklace.”
Shannon added that alongside the necklace she also does a postgame prayer, “I always have to pray during the national anthem for just, like, the health of the arena, the guys, Josh, our family. So, I think that’s, like, my go-to ritual.”
Between the prayer and cross necklace, Shannon said that she also has a lucky purse she wore to Game 4 that she will be bringing to Game 5 tonight.
“And then, obviously, last game, I brought this purse that, and we had that, like, 30-point comeback,” she said of Game 4 when the Knicks were down by 29 points and won 106-107. “So, obviously, bringing it to San Antonio again, just to run it back.”
Ali and Shannon have partnered with Reese’s Oreo for the Knicks’ postseason run as the two iconic brands join forces with their orange and blue colors.
“Me and Ali, obviously, we’re friends, so there’s a duo and then we just thought it would be really cool to match the Reese’s and Oreos that are orange and blue, we’re obviously in orange and blue on a daily basis going to these games,” Shannon said of the partnership. “I just thought it would be like a really cool outfit match to snack match.”
Shannon added: “Also growing up, I’ve always loved peanut butter, I’ve always loved Oreos. So, this snack is like a perfect like combination for me.”
“It’s like the iconic colors, orange and blue,” Ali said of the Reese’s and Oreos brand colors in comparison to the Knicks colors. “We’re seeing these colors all over the city, it’s blowing up. And then, this partnership of the dynamic duo of Reese’s and Oreos, also iconic. So what better way to partner with them for this, like, delicious snack.”
The Knicks take on the Spurs for Game 5 in the NBA Finals at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on June 13. Tip-off is at 8:30 pm ET.
