Malik Nabers’ extremely bold goal will catch Giants fans’ attention

While there is optimism surrounding the New York Giants under new head coach John Harbaugh, one position group on the team that fans are wondering about is the wide receiver core. With Giants star Malik Nabers injured and a cast of players new to the team, Harbaugh speaks about the group and even shares a goal for Nabers that fans are sure to want to hear.

Speaking during mandatory minicamp, Harbaugh would share his excitement about the pass-catchers, which feature starters Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, and third-round pick Malachi Fields.

Not to mention that New York reunited with Odell Beckham Jr. and added JuJu Smith-Schuster, Braxton Berrios, and while Harbaugh is confident, he also shares how Nabers’ goal is “to be the best in the league.”

“Well, I’m excited about the group, especially when we’re healthy,” Harbaugh said, via ESPN. “If you get Malik out there, you got I would say arguably — I know his goal is to be the best in the league…he’s capable of doing it.”

“All those guys are practicing well. The guys we brought in in free agency. We drafted a really good player [in Fields]. We’ll get Darius back, another guy. When you step back and look at it, you got about five guys you feel really good about.”

The Giants are hoping for the returns of Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton

There’s no denying that Nabers has the talent to be a top receiver in the NFL, as he shone in his rookie year with the Giants in 2024, recording 1,204 yards to go along with 109 catches and seven touchdowns. He would only play four games the next season, where he tore his ACL, hoping to be ready for Week 1 of this season.

Besides Nabers, New York is also waiting to see the recovery of Darius Slayton, who had undergone core muscle surgery earlier in the offseason, though the start of training camp is the expectation to be his return. At any rate, it remains to be seen when Nabers will return and if it will be in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 13.
